The Swiss Football Association (SFA) and Credit Suisse are collaborating to promote women's football in Switzerland by launching a unique digital art collection. This collection consists of individual pieces of art in the form of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), featuring portraits of the Swiss Women’s National Team.
The main idea
Each purchase of these NFTs will contribute to women’s football, as all profits will be directly donated to the national women’s team and to initiatives that encourage young female football talent.
Starting on July 11, these 756 unique digital artworks minted on Ethereum will be available for sale through Credit Suisse's banking app, CSX. The NFTs come in three levels of rarity and are priced from 150 to 10,000 Swiss Francs ($167 to $11,000). Additionally, they offer extra perks like a physical version of the art piece, a chance to meet the players, and a signed jersey.
The FAQ section of this collection might confuse you. The copyright will remain with the SFA; at the initial stage, the transfer of these NFTs to other users will be impossible as they are stored in a special bank wallet. Moreover, the sale will only be in Swiss Francs.
The current NFT market landscape
The launch of this NFT collection coincides with a loss of interest within the digital art market.
Prices for top collections such as Doodles, Azuki, CryptoPunks, and others are on a downward trend. For instance, the floor prices for NFTs from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection reached their lowest point two days ago since August 2021, at 27 ETH (≈$52,800).
Bored Ape Yacht Club is an NFT collection consisting of 10,000 pictures of monkeys with bored expressions and different attributes. Launched in April 2021, the collection quickly took off and image prices exceeded a million dollars. Some celebrities, including Justin Bieber and Eminem, hold these NFTs.
